To start November with a bit of a bang, the Farming Futures team are very excited to announce that we have been nominated for another award – the project has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Green Public Sector Campaign’ at the global Green Awards 2010!
The Green Awards were launched in 2006 to recognise and reward examples of excellence and best practice in communicating sustainability and green issues in any sector. Now in its 5th year, the awards are now open for entry from all over the world, so the competition is fiercer than ever.
The awards are divided into 16 categories; from Best International Campaign, to Best Green Product Innovation and Best Green Use of Mobile Apps and Technologies. You can see the full shortlist here. We share our category with four other projects; three UK projects focussing on a variety of subjects from local food to recycling and a final project based in Romania to promote Green volunteering.
Previous Green Award winners include Marks & Spencers, UNEP, Nokia, Do the Green Thing, and Defra’s Act on CO2 campaign, so it is fair achievement just to get this far. You can see case studies of previous winners here.
We want to say a huge thank you to you. We know that a major reason we were chosen as finalists is because we have such an active and engaged group of farmers and industry people visiting our site, attending our workshops and contributing to our blog and twitter profile. Our work is all about giving farmers a platform to share ideas, discuss problems and innovate together. The finals are judged by a panel of 25 industry experts and are due to be announced on the 2nd December 2010. Keep your fingers crossed!
